Today, Easter Sunday, Christians all around the Western world will be joining to celebrate the resurrection and new life in Jesus Christ. Churches will resound with the cries of “Christ is risen, He is risen indeed”, and church bells will ring out in celebration across many towns and cities.
When we look at the world around us, the horrors of terror attacks, the ongoing battle against ISIL, war in Yemen, continues violence in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, attacks against Christians on the Sub-Continent, ongoing instability in North Africa … this year more than ever, our world needs the message of a risen saviour, in whom is life, hope, forgiveness, healing and joy.
Across the Muslim world, we are hearing more and more accounts of Muslims turning to Christ at this time, encountering the Risen Christ through His people as they reach out with love and compassion.
This Easter Sunday, let us join together and pray for many more life changing encounters with the risen Christ, right across the world, in every nation, tribe and people. And pray that we, as God’s people will take the message of the Easter to the people around us, wherever we are.
And let us pray that nations will be transformed through the power of the resurrection, and the hope and love of Jesus Christ that is freely available to all, not just at Easter but forever.
Matthew 28 vs 5 – 7: “But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, “He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.”“
