Ethiopian Christians Killed by ISIL in Libya
ISIL have released a 29 minute video, showing two groups of captives, purportedly from Ethiopia, being executed by ISIL in Libya.
In between a long statement by a masked fighter, the footage shows captives in a desert area being systematically shot, whilst others on a beach were beheaded.
Whilst it is not confirmed who the captives were, it is believed that they were Ethiopian Christians residing in Libya. The Ethiopian authorities are working to verify the nationality of the captives.
The video bore the official logo of ISIL media, as have all previous videos released by ISIL. It also had a text on the screen, identifying the captives as “followers of the cross from the enemy Ethiopian Church”.
- Pray for the families of the men who have been killed, that they will find comfort in their faith and the loving arms of God.
- Pray for Christians across North Africa and the Middle East, for protection, perseverance in their faith and to be lights in the midst of the darkness.
- Pray for an ending to the violence against Christians by ISIL. Pray for leaders of ISIL to have powerful and life changing encounters with Jesus Christ through dreams, visions and the witness of those they are persecuting.
Micah 7 vs 8: “Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.”
