Justice
‘Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.’ (Isaiah 1:17) ‘He has shown you, O Man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’ (Micah 6:8)
There are many scriptures that highlight God’s desire that his people be concerned for justice, righteousness, the oppressed, the marginalised.
Take some time to meditate on these verses. Here are some others: Zechariah 7:9-10; Jeremiah 22:3; Matthew 7:12; Luke 10:30-37 and ask the God to show you some of the issues of injustice that we should be praying into around our world: refugee issues, modern day slavery, poverty, trafficking of women and children; child abuse; domestic violence; in the Middle East, South East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia.
If we are to see breakthroughs and release for the captives, we need to wait on God and pray his word into these situations. And we need to act for justice.
