Pray for Tajik Christian Family

Open Doors International have asked for prayer for Said Aka (not is real name), an elder in a church in a village in Tajikistan.

Tajikistan-4

For the last ten years, Said Aka has allowed other Christians in the village to gather at his house for Sunday services and a Bible study group. However, about a month ago, Alimjon (not his real name), his youngest son, came back from Russia, where he had lived for the last eight years.

Before leaving Tajikistan, Alimjon had known that his parents were Christians, and even supported their faith. But while in Russia, he adopted an extreme form of Islam, which caused severe tension on his return home.

Alimjon was furious to find that his parents still held gatherings at their house for local Christians, and he told his parents that he would break the arms and legs of anyone who came to their house with a Bible.

From that point on, Alimjon would not allow members of the local church to come into the house, and told them it was no longer a safe place to practice their faith. He told members of the church that he was going to call the local Mullahs and villagers to punish those who believe in Christ.

Said Aka has asked for forgiveness from the other Christians for the actions of his son.

  • Pray for Said Aka and his wife, for protection from their son’s anger and threats, and for grace and love to flow in their home.
  • Pray for the other church members in the village, for protection and courage in the face of the threats.
  • Pray for a new place for them to gather to worship, and for their witness to the village community.
  • Pray for Alimjon and other Muslims in hie village to encounter Christ Jesus and to come to know Him and his truth and grace for themselves.

Nehemiah 4 vs 9: “So we prayed to our God, and set a guard as a protection against them day and night.”
