Ramadan Night of Power
The 27th night of the month of Ramadan, which this year falls today, 13th July, is called the ‘Night of Power’, or the ‘Night of Destiny’.
Muslim scholars believe that, while the Koran was revealed over a period of 23 years, on this night the prophet Muhammad received the first revelation of the Qur’an.
The Night of Power, that starts at sunset and lasts until dawn, is considered the holiest night of the year. It is believed that there are groups of special angels who are only seen on the Night of Power and, for many Muslims, this night, and indeed the remainder of Ramadan, is marked by a heightened spiritual intensity as they spend time praying and reciting the Qur’an.
- Pray for the millions of Muslims who will be intently seeking God on this Night of Power. Pray that many will have visions and dreams of Jesus, and that God will reveal Himself to them in a new and living way that will lead them to the truth of the Gospel.
- Pray for protection on Christians living in and around the Muslim world on this night, specifically protection from Spiritual oppression and darkness.
- Pray for many opportunities for Christians to share their faith and Jesus with their Muslim neighbours on this night and through the remainder of Ramadan.
Acts 2 vs 17: “In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.”
