Using mobile apps for the gospel

Yalla Bina is a spiritual social program for Christian youth to help them read the Bible every day with ability of making/joining groups for discussions, sharing activities on Facebook and Twitter as well as many of the spiritual challenges that will help young people change for the better.

Yalla Bina has a range of strategies that include an Arabic You Tube Channel, website, Mobile application, a Facebook application for reading the Bible in 365 days, online discipleship for children.

The mobile application for Yalla Bina was released in Egypt in March 2012, in both English and Arabic. In the first year since release they have seen:

  • 46,000 downloads of the app in Egypt only
  • 39,500 active members using the app 3 or more times per week
  • 50 – 70 messages per day requesting prayer and counselling
  • 350,000 – 450,000 unique Facebook users per week (estimated)

At the end of June 2013 the app will be released globally in 3 languages: Arabic, English and French. It will focus on its use in the 22 countries of the Middle East and North Africa, while encouraging others to translate it into their language.

This is a tool that needs prayers for its use in touching young people in the MIddle East and North Africa
